Guns are a popular topic in the U.S. right now, and in light of recent events, many people are applying for a concealed carry permit. Depending on what state you live in, there are very different laws when it comes to concealed carry, specifically the process of obtaining a concealed carry license, and rules and laws on how and where you can carry a concealed weapon.

Most states maintain a “shall issue” status when it comes to concealed carry, meaning that one is required to have a concealed carry permit, but granting such permits is subject to only meeting certain criteria determined by the law, not the authority granting the permit. There is also no requirement on the application to demonstrate a “good cause,” and this is the case in Illinois.

Northern Illinois Carry offers two different courses, the first is our Introduction to Handgun Defense, and the second is USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Course. Our Introduction course requires that you have a concealed carry permit to register for the course, and will teach you how to use your handgun, and allows you to apply that training right away on the shooting range. Our second course, USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense, is a 16 hour course that meets Illinois State Police requirements for the Illinois Concealed Carry Permit. Upon completion of this course, students will receive a certificate, which is required when applying for a concealed carry permit.
